Most authors don’t make as much money as you might think. Many well known writers still maintain their day jobs, and only a very small percentage of authors are able to write full time without other sources of income. Even fewer authors ever reach millionaire status like the JK Rowlings and the James Pattersons. That said, if an author works on their craft, improves their writing, and gives readers what they want, they can be successful. However, that kind of success does not happen overnight.
